PCC - Moved up Financial Aid payments. Nearly 8,000 students will have their Pell grants and other financial aid funds available March 27 – nearly a month ahead of schedule. This means that $14 million will be available for our students’ use. Important: If a student changes their enrollment in courses, they could lose financial aid eligibility. Ensured Workstudy Students are Paid. We have received permission to pay students in the federal College Workstudy Program throughout this period for their work schedule, even if they are unable to come to work. Students must maintain enrollment of six units or more to be eligible.
Drive-Thru Lancer Pantry. Students experiencing food insecurity can pick up pre-bagged groceries next Monday – Thursday, March 23-26, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. To get necessary food, come to the turnaround off of Green Street near the Freeman Center. Loaner Laptops Available. The college has made laptops and other technology devices available for loan. Students have already been contacted and they are picking up machines in Lot 7 off of Bonnie and Colorado. If a student would like to add their name to the list, visit https://forms.gle/5CPsHAHU2dFrMUfF6. Requests will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. Other Technology Resources. We have enrolled in partnerships with a number of local internet service providers that are offering free to discounted access plans to students during this period. We are also able to provide Adobe Creative Suite to enrolled students’ personal computers through our licensing agreement with Adobe. We are also expecting to similarly allow home access to AutoCAD and other specialty software, so look for more information soon. The PCC Bookstore is also waiving shipping charges for online orders during this period. Help with the Transition. If you know a student who is thinking about withdrawing or changing their enrollment, please encourage them to call 855-GO-TO-PCC so they can get back on track. We are waiting for information from the Chancellor’s Office regarding enrollment status changes and refunds, and if students take action too early they may not be eligible. We know the transition to temporary remote instruction has made students fundamentally rethink their courses, and we want to be sure we’re doing as much as we can to support through through this time.
