Science and math related help for PUSD kids and families Special thanks to Brigette Rooney for posting - Longer description: "Ask a Caltech Student" is a group for Pasadena-area K-12 students and families to ask Caltech students science and math-related questions related to schoolwork and homework. The group was created in response to the COVID-19 crisis after schools in Los Angeles County were temporarily closed to in-person classes in March 2020 and moved to "distance learning." Realizing that many families navigating online instruction may need additional support for their math and science assignments, participating Caltech students will help answer questions, provide explanation for challenging concepts, post links to outside content, and share resources for additional help. This group is created and moderated by the Caltech Center for Teaching, Learning and Outreach. Caltech students may join. K-12 family participation will be limited at this time to families who live within or attend a public, private, or charter school within 10 miles of the Caltech campus (Group may be opened to a broader family audience at a later time). Group use is for the asking and answering of science, math, engineering and related questions related to homework or classwork. Moderators reserve the right to remove any posts that are outside the scope of the group. Likewise, members of the group may not spam, advertise products or services, or use abusive language. Repeat violations of the above rules may cause members to be removed from the group. Participating Caltech students are asked not to provide answers to specific problems or equations in questions posed, but rather to explain the underlying concepts. Providing a solution of a sample problem that is similar to one in the question asked is OK. This group is not intended to serve as a tutor-matching service.
